Today was the last day of a 3 day class by Gail Doane. We had a group of ladies from the Lone Star Smockers plus some from other guilds in Texas.
What a beautiful dress Gail has created featuring shadow embroidery, pintucks, lace beading and insertion with entredeux, bullion roses, and a few embroidery stitches. There were 2 kits to choose from for this dress. One was white with blue and the other was pink with ecru.
If you have never taken a class from Gail, you have missed a real treat. She is an excellent teacher of techniques and better ways to do things. You will never leave without learning something new or a different way to do something you have already done before. She has a way of taking an element that may seem complex, breaking it down to explain it step by step, until you have the concept or technique. Here are some of the other garments she brought with her on this trip. Here are the ladies hard at work on their dresses:
Gail had an outfit she was in the process of completing. Here is a sneak peak of what she is working on at the present time:We can’t wait to see the finished product. I’m sure it will become a new “Gail Doane Classic” and we will all be anticipating a class or kit in the future. Thank you Gail for coming back to Texas and sharing your extensive talent and knowledge with our group.
